Hi, new and not very technically gifted person here...
I've figured out how to get basic pages viewable from my own computer with localhost and 127.0.0.1 etc but can't view it with either my external or internal ip address. I changed the port to 808, but now it just comes up with an "access denied" message. I'm on a Uni LAN - I think that's the problem. Are the any easy-ish ways of getting round it?

That's not your external IP address - it's the proxy server at Cardiff Uni. You won't ever be able to serve up your site to the internet in general from behind a uni firewall unless you have a publicly accessible address that isn't proxied - which is doubtful on a .ac.uk network. You'll probably be able to serve to your peers on the LAN depending on configuration but that's it. |
