I have spent several hours in this forum reading everything FP but no avail since I think my problem isn't frontpage ext. It's how my files are set up based on moving them over using frontpage 2003 new methods in moving files. Ext no longer needed in FP 2003 also 90% of all previous post about 'FP' is no longer an issue, Microsoft woke up, though you still need ext for some of their lame services which are ugly any way you can use most of their features. But, FP 2003 is totaly better then previous versions. I'm just too stupid to learn DW and I hate the way it looks, just my two cents.
My problem:
FP 2003 has a new method, actually sevaral new methods in moving files and I'm trying to use the bottom method-file 'local' transfer 'ftp window', POW! In writing this post it hit me like a tone of bricks, some how or reason FP 2003 creates a new 'htdoc2' that confused the tranfer-error message 'no html or index file found' I used the wizard to choose layout and saved it in webserver htdocs but after creating my page it wouldn't tranfer-no index or .html found.
So I went back open up the folder in FP 2003 'folder view' I seen Private and image folders are there so I created a new page...., STOP, This is the part that had me confused FP 2003 says* I need a place to save your current work, it creates that htdoc2 folder then I go back to 'FP 2003 ftp client' I see it didn't tranfer my new created page to htdocs but saved it htdocs2, so I hit ftp tranfer button BAM FP 2003 transfer my file to htdocs folder with no problems. "you can't create new pages in htdocs if none exist-FP 2003 needs two folders for this process" I hope my real world problem wasn't too confusing. I'm a idiot so if I can learn this through trial and error I know 99% of all others can. When brains was passed out I got cabbage.
Also I'm not so sure if FP ext are under a lic. I think there open source atleast that's the only code is MS open source. I could be wrong.
Aprelium, Thank you for this web server and forum I have a new media method to send information to the world and possibly makes some money. If you ever get those FP ext for the server it would be a added addition for Sharepoint services.
Cabbage brain
Also I don't use credit cards-I'm a cash only person if I can't buy it with cash then I can't afford it. So is their a way to send money by mail for the pro version and get a cd. |

I have been using FrontPage 2003 recently; and I must say, I like it. I don't know about the transfer wizard; and I really find no use for it. Why don't you make a local copy of your website, and then update the files on FrontPage, and then save them once your done. After that, you can just upload them. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

So it didn't work even when you uploaded local copies of the file to your FTP (using IE or another FTP Client; and not FrontPage)? _________________ Bienvenidos! |

When I first open frontpage to begin a new site with aprelium I used the wizard to pick my page and place the file. the save local is htdoc but after creating a cell adding color to see if it works through FP 2003 ftp it wouldn't save without first creating a htdoc folder2 which is the remote web site folder. In my first post I have that backwards. I havn't tried any other method to transfer. I think what I did wrong at first is have my paths screwed up it wasn't until I used FP 2003 default paths to have it transfer correctly. I'm sure if I choose to save my web files in some other method I could, now that I know the correct paths from local to --> web server which both are in the same web folder. I'm going to changed the local path just in case my 2nd HDD gets hacked or crash. FP 2003 is pretty freakin smart it was just my cabbage brain that meesed up. |

Yes, you don't need to add the path or configure it. Just go into the directory you want to save your file, right click, hit new, and hit text document. Then you can rename it to .html. Once you've done that, just open it with FrontPage, edit it, and save it. _________________ Bienvenidos! |
