While im still in the forum , it redirects the domains
that point to your normal website to different folders
to create real virtual hosts and thats why its so cool :D |

If you owned 3 domain names, eg KarasusHomeSite.com, KarasusWorkSite.com and KarasusHosting.com, you could have all 3 pointing to one IP. The virtual host script looks at the Host: header in the requests from peoples browsers and redirects them to a sub-folder on your Abyss server automatically, rather than you having to have a front page and ask people to click for the section they want to view.
eg. KarasusHomeSite.com -> http://yourip/home
KarasusWorkSite.com -> http://yourip/work
KarasusHosting.com -> http://yourip/hosting
It would also work with multiple no-ip addresses etc if you don't want to pay for a bunch of domains - a handy script if you want to host multiple sites without having to have a universal frontpage or tell people to go to http://yourip/somefolder/subsites/site2/ etc |

Not exactly , no-ip is for redirection if you want to do
what your talking about , these scripts act as real
virtual hosts like Apache but the only difference is
that with a real virtual host you get your own / directory
for each domain you host but the script just redirects you to
a another folder or web page on your web root and will show
www.your-site.com/other/ or www.your-site.com/ like a real
virtual host would show but it all depends on the settings you use. |

Yes, I wouldn't quite call it real virtual hosting. Ironically, virtual hosting is intended to do the exact opposite of its name. The thing with this is just that it is simply a redirect; and one is able to access any other one of the sites on the same domain; whereas "real virtual hosting" (quite the contradict) is supposed to completely seperate each website. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

It looks real, until you click on a link. Then the real URL shows up. I would just call it a redirect that masks the title page.
But don't get me wrong; it is a lot better than nothing! _________________ Bienvenidos! |
