Hi Darren--

I am using ArgoSoft email server for pop 3 accounts and couldn't be happier. You can check it out here:
http://www.argosoft.com/applications/mailserver/

(note--I don't use their webmail interface which has advertisements unless you buy..I got another free program for web interface from:
http://scbr.com/docs/download/mwm.shtml)

Regards,
Axis

I have just installed Mercury Mail Server (as in Pegasus Mail). It's a free download, and pretty easy to install and set up. Works really well so far!

The site is here: http://www.pmail.com/

I am using it through http://www.sitelutions.com which is a similar service to no-ip.com (but they have an active charity policy).

Just gotta remember to open your routers ports 110 and 25 for POP and SMTP(incoming). Haven't tried IMAP yet...

My ISP blocks Port 25 SMTP(outgoing), but Mercury has a relay function so you can use the ISP's SMTP server. Watch those open relays though!!!

It's quite funny to watch your "test mail" going round and round and round, before you read the Help page and set it up properly. When all else fails, read the manual - yes, I know!!!

That's exactly what you get with Mercury Mail Server!!!

That's what I have running, and can access my mail with Outlook Express with no problems.

Hi Darren--

Hmmm...did you try ArgoSoft and experience the "stop every two hours" thing?

I have never even had it blink....

You've downloaded the evaluation version of one of the Pro servers, not the freeware edition. Try reading before you click...

I also vouch for Mercury. It is by far the easiest server I have set up.

If you can't even get as far as reading the page to find the download, I wouldn't bother installing it, you won't get it set up without reading the fine manuals. Which I posted links to. Already.

The software is "Mercury Mail Transport System for Win32 and NetWare Systems v4.01a" which is suprisingly enough on the Pegasus downloads page.
