This is something for "me" mainly, but could expand...

I want to be able to download graphics/ringtones/etc.
to my own cellphone, not from the cellphone manuf. site.
IOW, I want to create said items, post them via my Abyss
site, and have no clue as to if I can...LOL

Requirements include "whatever will work".
Does that make much, if any, sense to anyone?

TY for replies,
maxiDAVE

Okay,

Before I get "flamed" to death...

I am a true newbie at/with all of this and would really
appreciate some links to "how-to" guides...
(the more - the merrier!)

TIA,

maxiDAVE, welcome to the forums. :D
The newest version of Abyss is already configured to create WAP pages.
If you want to make an actual site, you will need to learn about WAP and WML, and how to
convert HTML pages to pocket format. http://www.w3schools.com/wap/default.asp

Or you can do like I do...just create a folder in your htdocs and put all your ringtones and
pictures in it. Then, go to that folder in your phone browser. (ex. http://yoursite.com/folderyoucreated/ )
It will show a directory listing of all your stuff. Then click and open whatever you want.

maxiDAVE,

You can access your web site hosted by Abyss on a WAP mobile. There is no technical problem here. Abyss is also ready to host WAP specific files (such as .wml files).
Of course, you must make configure your computer/network (router) to make Abyss accessible from the outside.

Does the new version automatically add the MIME types though? I remember having to do it manually with the version before 1.2.2.2.

Yes it does , just check your mime settings
in the Abyss Web Server console , example.

I did check, but that didn't help me too much because I had them there already. Now I just need the new version that supports VHosts so I can change jmoschetti45.ath.cx/wap to wap.jmoschetti45.ath.cx (don't go to the site, its down). Anyone know how much longer we have to wait?

Sweet! 8) Can't wait for new features! This is slightly off topic, but for configuring the VHosts, can every host be set up like the current server, like have a Server Configuartion button for each host, so that every host can be set up completely different?

Actually, you do not need to wait for VHosts to forward "wap.jmoschetti45.ath.cx" to "jmoschetti45.ath.cx/wap." If you use ZoneEdit, you can use their forwarding option. If you don't use ZoneEdit... well then I suggest you try it! :D

I don't use ZoneEdit. I'll look into it right now.
