I notice that some programs require just the C:\ and nothing
else why is this , is it because if someone did brake into your PC
they wouldn't be able to access the Windows root , how does it work ?
Just curious why people prefer C:\ and not
C:\Program Files\ Path for their server. 8) |

Hi TRUSTpunk--
You know...I think I, myself, put it in C:\webserver because I was used to apache and wanted to avoid spaces in my scripts' paths. I might have had problems with something, somewhere, along the way (maybe of an earlier version of abyss and/or some script I was trying to install).
You know the truth is I don't know if I really needed to, I just felt like it would be easier in the long run(?)
Regards,

I don't think it really matters when it comes to security. I keep all of my server programs (HTTP, FTP, Mail, etc.) in a folder called; guess what; C:\SERVER! I just think it makes life a lot easier when it comes to find something. _________________ Bienvenidos! |

Oh so if you need a local path in a script you just type
"C:\Abyss" or "C:\Server" I think I know why they do that
now , thank you for the comments. lol :D |

i have mine in D:\server.
if I need to rebuild my computer I don’t lose the files cos I forget to backup (which always happens). after a rebuild I can then just re-launch abyss php & mysql and their all setup to run just as before.
ingénues :D _________________ Olly |

Just a note , Maxtor 1 touch HD's can not host
a Web Server because it will only allow 1 process
at a time , just wanted to clear that up for you. |
