Im going crazy right now....

im running suse 8.1
and the abyss webserver

abyss is installed into /abyss/abyssws/
and i want my document root in /data1/server/HTTP/

if i run the server with thise dir-locations im always get the massage

500 internal server error .....

what the hell does that mean ? hand how can i fix the problem.. ??????

assuming the directories already exist, did you update those changes in the control panel?

i have checked that i have updatet the controllpanel...and the directory are on my drive..

but i still get the same error...

mhmmm i think i have to by a gun and shooo..... ;-)

The files that are in these directories seem to have their executable bit set which forces Abyss to execute them and to display error 500 since they aren't really executable files.

I experienced an intermittant problem, you may well find that if you want to put your own directory structure, your better of doing what I did...

Make a folder and in my case I called ir SERVER_ROOT and I installed Abyss into the SERVER_ROOT and in the console made the document root = C:\SERVER_ROOT\htdocs

You may want to try that to see if your problem is cured.
