hi 'ive heard from a friend about this method to host your own site so i wanted to try it, i have win xp and router. Ive installed the program, i putted my html files in the docs directory and i opened the router port 80 and 10001. But how can i surf to my site whats the adress? I know its my ip but whats the full adress for the index?
Then if i link pictures or pages to what directory does it have to be? Just to my pc directory where these files are located?
thnx _________________ **n00b** |

If you have an extra PC from your LAN and or a friend PC outside your LAN will help alot to test your Webserver. Also depending on your Router and ISP if they have loopback support / feature.
To test your Webserver if it working or displaying:
1. All HTM or HTML (default INDEX.HTM by Abyss) should be place in HTDOC folder.
2. Use another PC from your LAN and enter your LAN IP - example: Abyss PC on 192.168.100 then use your other PC and enter URL from your brower like IE to 192.168.1.100 and should show up a webpage.
3. If you do not have another extra PC, ask your friend and try to connect to your Public static IP (not your private LAN IP).
4. You can try using 127.0.0.1 with your browser and see if your page show up.
5. If you have a DOMIAN, then you enter your www.mydomain.com. Just make sure you Domain is routing back to your PC and have your Router open port 80 to your Abyss PC.
As for your PIC file, you can either put in the same folder or make another ALIAS folder... ie PIC .... then your URL should show something like this www.mydomian.com/pic. Just make sure your webpage is included the extra URL link of PIC. Abyss can display all file(s) contain in that folder aslong you enable the "Auto Indexing" to YES otherwise it will show 403 forbidden. _________________ CapFusion,... |
