That line you gave is ment for the Apache webserver which is the most commonly used webserver but isn't as easy to use as abyss ;)

Maybe it's an actual problem with the script and not abyss.

All you can do is keep on banning them. It's annoying but aslong as they don't actually ever gain access to yuor system there's no problem ;) Except maybe for bandwidth problems.
