Well OK I hear what you are saying. However these internal server errors on the SSI includes ONLY occur when I turn off the rewrite log - turn logging on again and the errors go away.

What is the maximum value for the anti-hack "Banning Duration"? I'm guessing its a 32 bit signed integer so 2147483647 but I'd like to be sure.

404's are half a bad request, so 2 404's is 1 bad request. Maybe set the limit a little lower? Block after 3 bad requests in 60 seconds? That would probably be better.
