Well, today i found this software, good old google, and installed it. Thought i had it running, and even get myself a domain name from no-ip. Been working on it for several hours.
Anyway, nobody else seems able to connect to my page, i fight with my router for a bit, and when i think i finaly have it working, i am told the server is getting a listening error.
I think my problem might be simple, im connecting to my router wirelessly. But since i have yet to see in caps someware 'YOU CANNOT HOST OVER A WIRELESS NETWORK, GIVE UP' anyware, iv kept up hope, all the time wondering if it was such a no brainer nobody had even bothered to say it...
Im running threw a wireless router on a ADSL connection, i have ports 80 and 443 open as portforwarding told me to open them, and its not goin threw... Help? _________________

Kell, welcome to the forums.

A listening error means that another program is trying to use port 80. Check your Task Manager to make sure
there are exactly 2 instances of abyssws.exe running. If there are, use an app, such as CurrPorts, to see if
another program is using port 80.
Also, temporarily disable your firewall and antivirus to see if they are the culprits. |

Thanks for the help, you managed to get rid of the listening problem for me :)

(if you get something asking for a password, let me know, it means its working!)
thats the url i have set to link to my site, i can connect to it, and so can proxys i use, but nobody else seems able to... I turned off my firewall and anti virus when problems started, i guess its my router. _________________

No. I'm getting a timeout when I use your zapto and IP address.
So that means your no-ip configuration is not the problem.
Are you sure your portforwarding is set up correctly? What is your router make/model? |

Its a 2wire 2700HG-E.
Iv done port forwarding for many things in the past, none of them (other than winmx, it just hates me) have given me half this much trouble. _________________

It is possible that your ISP is blocking incoming access to port 80. Especially seeing as your computer appears to be responding to the ping command, at IP 154.5.137.*. You could try running your server on a different port, such as 8000. _________________ Olly |

It's working now!
I got the password prompt.
Yah, it's on port 8000. _________________ Stephen

It responds on port 80 for me now, but not 8000. The DNS data may have taken time to propagate through the DNS servers. _________________ Olly |

Doh! I didn't even think about that. 8O
The OT even says that it is a new domain.
Well, Kell... Have fun with your new server.

Drupal will work fine providing you have compatible versions of PHP and MySQL. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

Go to www.abyssunderground.co.uk and follow the tutorials there. They work perfectly for anyone who has tried them (and followed them word for word). _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)
