I want to add a CGI forum to my website but i can't confugure it right it askeds for the path to the cgi bin but what is that is that c:/programs/abyss/cgi-bin or is it somehting else please help this has bothred me for about a month now i have asked everyone without any success.

marc,
cgi scripts require what is called perl if you dont have it installed on your
machine none of your cgi will work. my guess is that you are a newbie to cgi
if that is the case I suggest you buy a book on how to learn and understand cgi or try to find an online tutorial.
remember that perl is an interp for cgi it is not the same thing
perl is to cgi what gas is to a car.

yes marc thats correct
if a script asks for the path to the cgi-bin
you would put C:/program files/abyss web server/cgi-bin
your on the right track.
but remember that this path can vary from person to person all depending on where you installed the abyss webserver on your machine.
the best way to figure it out is through trial and error but mostly by looking for that path manually on your system. |
