not sure if this is cgi but oh well..
k I'm not sure if I'm trying to do the right thing, I tried running phpbb2 on my abyss server but it doesn't send emails, it just returns an error. do I need that sendmail cgi thing (it is cgi right?) and how do I get/instal it?

You don't need sendmail with PHP scripts.
You should open your PHP.ini file and locate the SMTP= line . Fill it with the name of your SMTP server.
It is easy to know its name, open your Mail reader (outlook for example) and in the options locate the SMTP server you use and copy/paste its value there. Save your php.ini file and close it.
