|
|
Hello all,
Ive been having some issues with the AbyssUnderground Web Server today. For some reason it keeps randomly crashing, and Im still yet to work out the cause. If the server is down please let me know via this forum.
If I cannot resolve the problem, it will be an excuse to purchase a new server :-) _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

How rude.
You were buying a new computer, I made a software suggestion. No need to get your knickers in a twist about it. _________________

Seriously? Are you kidding?
Also I wasn't saying *nix is better, I use Windows on one of my servers, infact it has 250+ days of uptime, I have nothing against it.
I just think XP is a bad system to run a server on. I'd "obtain" Server 2003, it's far better if you're going to go the windows route. _________________

I already intend to. I have several trial editions that last 180 days. I can use tweaknt to remove the 180 days limit and I have a full version. I have 160 days uptime on my current windows 2k3 server which is a large improvement from the 40 odd I get with XP before it gives up. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

The issue for the last 17 hours was a power cut. As I was away I was unable to restart the server after the one hour outage. The UPS only last 15 minutes. The sites are all now back online. Sorry for the inconvenience. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

Linux crashes too you know... Say a common Windows user perhaps.. maybe a fellow year 9 ICT student wlaks up to a new installtion of Ubuntu and goes "Mr Harbinson, is that Windows?" and Mr Harbinson says "No, thats an alternative OS, Linux. Have a play and see what you think...". So he then clicks on a button and Poof! the box catches on fire.
