Hi every body,
I've just installed Abyss on my W2K Thinkpad (Celeron 400- 68Mb - 20Gb). It works fine with HTTP.
After viewing Aprelium docs, I installed Php (4.2.3 - don't ask me to install newer version 'till i'ven't finished my talk  ) and added Php support to abyss - alias (/IIS_root) - restart : OK.
Test : I tried a php page with phpinfo() instruction using this url : http://127.0.0.1/IIS_root/info_php.php. ===> It asked me to download the file 'info_php.php' as it detected that the extension is associated with Dev-PHP, a PHP editor I use.
Can anybody tell me how to make the server interpret the file before asking to download it? _________________ ToPniz

Check your mime type settings in both Abyss and your browser. It sounds like in your browser prefs you have it set to open the file with your app, rather then output the data as text. In reality you should not have a mime type created for php in your browser settings at all. Let me know if that doesn't fix your problem. _________________ ://Kritikal Web Solutions |

My browser is IE 6.0 and it lies on registries base to find MIME types.
For Abyss, Php doesn't appear as a MIME type.
I've wondered about the problem all the night, and here is what i've found :
* For Dev-PHP there is an open action associated with it (this is found on tools menu - folder options - file types). This open action calls Dev-PHP exec.
* I've modified the open action so that it points on php.exe and i've added an edit action which calls dev-php.
It works. The php interpreter is called (but it crached of course and i think that i must install Php4.3.3 at least... :x )
I'll wait for any other suggestion. _________________ ToPniz

topniz,
The problem is not with the version of PHp or with MIME types.
You can install whatever version of PHP you want, but you should follow the instructions provided at http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/php.html to setup the CGI Parameters and to declare PHP to Abyss. _________________ Support Team

Yes, that's it.
The fact is that i declared php as a dotted extension : ".php". I've changed it to "php" (without the dot) and it worked marvelously.
PHP, mysql, phpadmin... all worked... And for the first time i was able to observe my personal web pages from a remote host... With Apache, it always observes timeout errors.
Thanx.. _________________ ToPniz

Just for information, the new beta 2 of version 1.2 (http://www.aprelium.com/news/abws12b2.html) now accepts the leading dots when declaring extensions and "automagically" cleans them. _________________ Support Team
