|
|
Hi, I've got another problem :?
I haven't quite figured out how to host multiple sites on my Abyss X2 server.
They need to have they're own little ftp server, where they can't interact with anyone else's webspace that is hosted on my server.
Can I host multiple sites on the same port 80? You must be able to I'm sure cause I've never had to type in www.yoursitehere.com:100 anywhere.
So if you could help me out with this I'd be very appreciative.
Thank you. |

Click "Add" on the screen with "Stop" and "Configure" and add a new host. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

That's all there is to it?
Can I stay on the same port?
And when it says Host Name:
what do I put?
BTW. This is the only forum I've ever been on that replies this fast.
Props. |

You can use the same port on all Hosts. As for the Host name field, you need
to have a registered domain or sub domain that points to your server's IP, that
uses an "A" or "CNAME" record as the DNS settings.
Contact your "Domain Register" for more information on that. |

You should have no problem using abyss. I have 5 domains, all using dyndns.com to provide the routing and all on port 80, works effortlessly.
Give each domain its own folder and point to it in the abyss config
For the ftp I set up the home directories for the domains pointing to their folders as above then they cant see each other.
hope that helps

Virtual Hosts...
I looked at the comparison chart for Abyss Webserver X1 and X2.
There isn't much of a difference, Except Bandwidth Throttling...
I mean with a simple reDirectUrl you can host multiple virtual sites with one Abyss host. Just can't get different logs for each site. That's where the X2 benefit comes in.
When I get a few paying tenants at my friends house I hope to support abyss webserver and purchase the professional edition X2.
For now I know it works GREAT! _________________ Todd (Gannyaa)

Gannyaa,
X2 is very different from X1. The virtual hosts script makes several domain names share the same real host. But if you have 3 hosts on X2, it's like having three computers each of them running its own copy of X1. Actually, in X2 each host is independant (which is not the case when you use X1+VHS) and can have its own configuration. _________________ Support Team
