downloading .exe

My parents put a block on my laptop that disables me from installing and/or running programs. I tried installing to a removable disk but cant run it because it is a. .exe. I tried renaming it "notepad", because it works with windows media player which they blocked too, but it didnt work. I also tried to rename the file type to .dll or .zip, but those are blocked too. Please help, this is the only computer i have, my desktop is broken.

You should either ask your parents to unlock the pc or fix your own. Abyss will only run if its an exe file.

i asked, they wont let me...i only want iTunes, is there any file type that wouldnt be blocked?

Do they have a reason for blocking the files? If they dont I cannot see why they would do so.

You could just try every combination of characters possible (though it could take a while, lol)

Try passwords related to them, like your mums maiden name, or (if you have one) your dogs name, simple things like that, etc...

I know this because mostly all parents use that as their passwords, I think. lol

lol if anything since my parents are retarded at setting up anything on the PC i setup the network, and it just so happens that i can access my PC, there PC, my server, and anything else connected to the router from anywhere and if they lock me out i got the Override key for the router :D (yea its one of those expensive ones that my dad got from his work lol)

if i log in to my name, and turn the wireless switch off, i get some administrator rights, but still cant downlaod or run any executable files.

I know this is wrong but here it goes. Restart the computer and hit F8 while it's
booting up, select Safe Mode and login to the Administrator account. You don't
need a password or username to gain access to this account.

Now you can change every account's access rights.

i heard that somewhere else too, but the acount option is not at the log in screen, but if you hit cntrl+alt+shift+F10, the "Faronics Anti-Executable Enterprise window pops up. Like i said before though, if i turn off the network button while the screen reads, "applying your personal settings", i have some access to blocked programs like cmd prompt and what not, but i still cannot download or run executables.

your parents are stupid crazy about no exes arent they? if you can get access to the restore part of windows (if it is turned on) you can restore windows back to before they installed the program (be careful this dosent work 100% of the time)

first, how do i restore windows to before faronics was installed?, and to the parent who replied, my parent are both in their fifties, my dad is nearly 60, and they both practically hate technology. they want me to live like my dad did when he was a kid, so in my mind i am deprived of technological privilages, and my computer is my only chance of electronic entertainment, since i have no gaming system. I only want to get iTunes on this computer

also, i tried to write a set of commands in cmd to override the admin pass, and delete the logon.scr, but it blocks me since i do not have full permission to do that. any sugguestions?

So basically you are a second user on the laptop, like you need to login each time you switch it on ?

Navigate to the "My Computer" Icon on the "start" menu of Windows. Right click on the "My Computer" Icon and select the option "Manage" from the resulting drop-down list menu. expand the plus(+)sign that is next to the icon for "Local users and Groups". Then select the "Users" folder and it should list all the users on the computer. If you can't find the user here, it might be time for a rebuild\image\repair\restore.

Or same place select Services and Applications/Services Start /Stop programs

Bargain with them, trick them into installing it, or format.

You could try something like Ophcrack to get the administrator password too I suppose, but you'd be better off to just get them to do it for you somehow.

here's what you do:

pretend to go crazy, and lock yourself into your room and hold your dog hostage until they unblock your pc.

works every time!

or, if you don't want that, try getting Damn Small Linux on a little bootable cd or some other livecd and run linux. thats how I get past all the stuff on my school's computers. It thinks it an entirely diffrent pc, and it never loads anything off the hdd's.

If you can run .bat files, DSL has qemu that boots up a virtural pc so when your parents look you can just minimize it real fast.

what you can do is from a friend download an Linux Dist with vmware installed.
and make shore it is an Live CD.
then burn it on an CD.
Go home Put the CD in the CD Slot.
Run it.
Install what ever you want even windows or something then you can install everything on that dist.

For Live CDs, I highly recommend Ubuntu. It's unbelievably easy for a Linux distro.

they disabled formatting drives for that reason, and i have a hp tablet pc, so it does not have a cd drive, only USB and SD.

You cannot disable formatting a drive. You can still do it by using a floppy disk or by a cd.

when i right click and click "format" it says "you do not have sufficint rights to perform this operation" i tried turning off the network when it says "applying your personal settings" afteri log on to get basic user rights. it works, and so i right clicked on my computer and clicked manage and added myself as an administrator, but i still need thee password to disable deep freeze or anti-executable, and i still cant format the drives or end task of AEmngr in the task manager. WHAT SHOULD I DO????

ps. i only have USB and SD drives, no CD or Floppy.

Use a linux live cd, boot from it and format the drive with that. Then either install linux or reinstall windows giving yourself full admin rights.

i cant use a live cd, becasue tablets (my laptop) doesnt have a cd rom drive or a floppy drive. Is there a live cd that i ca transfer to a thumb/flash drive or an SD card?
And where do i get what i need to do it?

Yes there is one called DamnSmallLinux. Search on google for it and it should come right up. Its only 50mb and in comparison to the other Linux of 600-700mb distro's its very small. It features a fully usable desktop and you can even install it to a flash drive and use it as your own OS, leaving the main OS intact.

btw, here's a quick and breif overview of what linux is.

Ok, a long time ago, there was UNIX. and, from unix today you get apple os x, linux, unix, and a few others but thats even more off topic.

now, all that I am talking about are kernals. this is the real brain or foundation of an os. its not truly useable at this point, but its the beginnings of frankenstine. then, you have a second developer go and write some more programs and dll's and the like, and slowly you end up with the rest of the guts of the os. then another developer (or sometimes the same one) will go and write some more programs, dll's and all kinds of stuff and come up with a user interface, wether graphical or not. and then, you get your diffrent flavors of linux, such as redhat, fedora (which these two are almost the exact same, but some slight diffrences), suse, dsl, ubuntu, gnoppix, knoppix, and so many more.

now, when a developer distributes the os, he puts everything in a *.iso file, or a cd image. it puts everything into one file so you don't have to worry about something being messed up in the download, and there are many other benifits. now, you just downloaded an iso. what can you do with it? you can do many things, from getting daemon tools and mounting it and making a virtural cd drive, or you can go get a program that burns iso files to cd. its not like using the windows burning tool, you have to get a program that says it burns iso's, otherwise its the same thing as what you have on your hard drive, which is almost useless by itself.

Then, it burns a pretty cd that has all the correct files in the correct directories, and you have yourself a neat cd that can install linux, or boot it from the cd, or both.

this isnt the full story but its the crash course in it.

I think iTunes is compatible with linux, but im not 100% sure. just because they share the same unix background, it doesn't mean everything is cross compatible.

most of the linux distros can be installed such as fedora or ubuntu but to have windows and linux you will most likely have to make a few partitions on your harddrive and you still have to make a cd.
