I have made a e107 website, using Abyss [and PhP v5, myphpadmin, mysql]. I can access it perfectly from my own pc. I also downloaded no-ip DUC thing and made my "site" [www.bbbguild.zapto.org].

So...how I do I get it to work so people could type bbbguild.zapto.org and they would get to my site ?

yeah..i got it working. but now if i type bbbguild.zapto.org it goes to my htdocs...then once i click on e107, it goes there, but it does something like http://localhost/e107/e107/index.php <-- notice the double e107. . But if I just type in one e107 it works fine. Dunno why it doubles it...

Nope, no doubles there, checked that already. So...all I gotta do is make a account at no-ip [pretty much follow their easy little instructions]. And...that is it? Or I have to mess with some config files?

Try accessing --> http://localhost/e107/index.php

Does this page exist?
If so, does it do a redirect to e107/e107/index.php?

Also, have you defined any aliases on Abyss?

Read that, done that. Thing is, when I go to my routers or w.e IP. I can see activities...and all incoming IPs were being blocked. I tried loooking through settings...noting i can do ... port 80 is open.

I wonder if your ISP is possibly blocking port 80?

If not, make sure your DNS A record is pointing to the proper IP.

The DNS record should point to your external IP address.

Make sure for example: www.bbbguild.zapto.org points to 65.102.78.xx not the 192.168.x.x number.

and i started running abyss on port 100 ...

1. What router do you have? (maybe there's a firmware upgrade available)

2. Could you post a screenshot of your router setup showing the port forwarding?

3. A common problem of this sort is the port being forwarded to the wrong internal IP address. The server's IP address can change (the 192.168.xxx.xxx address), and the site no longer will work. The solution is to manually set the IP address on the server computer.

1. network anywhere nr048 [something like that]
2. My ST not working, but I tried to foward port 80 and it said it is already open. so now it only got HTTP: ext. port. :80 inv. port. :80 ip address: 192.168.1.80 and i check ENABLE. thats all.
3. i got no-ip dns. and SOMEHOW i hosted this on my other pc..but it had no router. same ISP, same cable modem. just this time im using router.

okay look.

after following all the steps to install e107 [php, mysql, myphpadmin, and of course abyss]. i downloaded no-ip, and go that up and running.

that is all...

is there any config documents i should edit? cause damn i dont remember how i got it working on my other pc, but it was alot easier.

Have you suspected that your ISP (Cableone) is blocking port 80? That would make this behavior very explainable.
Looking at a search, it seems Cableone blocks port 25.

Certainly you've checked this, but are you sure that your server's current IP address is 192.168.1.80? To check: ipconfig /all for WinXP or winipcfg for Win98.

Well, ISP should have nothing to do this. Because I hosted abyss and stuff on my other PC, and it was fine. So, I am guessing ISP is out of the way.

Now.. I did that ipconfig.

IP Address: 192.168.1.101
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DHCP server: 192.168.1.1
DNS servers: 24.116.200.232
24.116.2.34

Hrm.. and I used [www.whatismyip.com] to get an Ip that I could put in no-ip config.

Should i do anything in system/drivers/etc/host thing?

Or..even .. hm... pretty much It should run w/o any config file editing?

You shouldn't have any configuration to do with the hosts file if you didn't mess with it in the first place.

You said you set your router to send port 80 requests to 192.168.1.80.
Was this a typo? It should be 192.168.1.101.

Right now, what you want to do is be able to access your site via your IP address (example: http://24.145.130.71).

BTW, do you have XP SP2? Check your firewall settings to allow Abyss.
(Control Panel -> Security Center -> Manage Security Settings for Windows Firewall -> Exceptions tab -> Abyss Web Server - should be checked)

XP SP2. Abyss Web Server is added, I have done it earlier.

HOST file..didn't mess with it.

No, its not a typo... I can go to 192. [whatever] access my router or w/e it is. And it shows .80 not .101. But if I go to CMD ... it shows .101

And no... my IP is 24.116.51.153, but I cant access my site with it.

Do you have yahoo or aim messengers?

A question: When you had your other site up and running, was that site using the no-ip as the DNS server as well?

How can you access your site? Which of these work?

1. http://localhost
2. http://127.0.0.1
3. http://192.168.1.101 (from server)
4. http://192.168.1.101 (from another computer on your LAN)
5. http://24.116.51.153 (from server)
6. http://24.116.51.153 (from another computer on your LAN)

If 1, 2, and 3 work, your server works just fine.
If 4 works, your server is accessible from inside your LAN.
If 5 or 6 work, you have correctly forwarded port 80. If 5 and 6 do not work, I would first suspect your router.
----------
Can you email me a screenshot of your port forwarding screen from your router's setup? (Print Screen key, Open Paint, Paste, Save as PNG file)

OK, now we're getting somewhere. :)

Under preset applications, you see HTTP port 80.
Protocol TCP is already checked. Good.
Internal port is 80. Good.
For IP address, it says 192.168.1.80. Make it 192.168.1.101.
Click enable.
Voila, port forwarding is enabled.

Here's my setup, which is quite similar to your's. My server's internal IP address is 192.168.1.110.

Hmmm... That's very interesting. I can access your site, though. As of right now, I get a 404 error, but it works!

One little note: Your server's IP address is probably assigned by DHCP (see your router's config). You'll want to set it manually. Why? DHCP might change your server's IP address when you restart the server - and your website will be down until it is assigned 192.168.1.101 again.

404 error, not connect to server?

So, what should I do?

Here's a tutorial to show how to manually configure your IP address on WinXP --> http://stephen.calvarybucyrus.org/redirect.php?page=manual_IP

Reiven, just make sure to update your port forwarding page with the new server IP address. Your website should work properly then. Hope it helps!

192.168.1.102 is a bad number. The reason is that the DHCP server probably starts assigning numbers at 192.168.1.100. Then the third computer that asks for an IP address would get 192.168.1.102. Then you have a major problem.
(In other words, 192.168.1.102 might already be assigned to another computer from the DHCP server.)

So, manually configure your server to have an IP address of, say, like 192.168.1.130. That should fix the problem. Then update the port forwarding.

Does that work?

If a static IP was assigned on a DHCP range then the DHCP would ignore it and go to another IP. But the static will not go to another IP.

Find the DHCP range and increase it to 110 instead of 100 then you can set your server as 100 and so on. I have a linksys router so I know how to do this if you need help doing so.

I see, I have been trying to decide if I should get e107 on my server or not.

I would like to ask, did you re-install e107 and create a new database for it or are you now going to build your site with out it?

What if just briefly does e107 do for a site?

Thanks,

e107 is a content management system, just like PHP-Nuke or Joomla.
Simply put, it's a pre-made PHP website. You just add content.

Cool, thanks Moxxnixx:

I checked out that link, a cms looks like it would be a nice setup. I am thinking about converting to something like that once I get my web mail thing figured out. I have an account at hotpop but, I can’t seam to get my web form to work very well. It’s very odd that I can log on to Outlook Express and then shortly after that my web form will work. Although, when I try the form again a little later then I get the 505 error where it says that it must authenticate. It is like the authentication is timed or something even though I have my account at hotpop checked signed into.

I am thinking about setting up that agsmail server or one similar and try to bypass the ISP altogether. However, not sure about if it is worth opening up an extra port, or if it will work consistently.
