As everyone told me when i was new, you can be hacked. There is no such things as a safe server. Its all that you do to protect it that makes it not hackable. Just make sure anti-hacking protection is engaged and you will be fine (iv never been hacked, there was a possible hack but that was cleared)
This will be use ful:

(you may have to scoll down some to see it) _________________ Where have i been? School got heck-tick, had to move half way around the state, then back... and then i had to change jobs, so iv been away for a while :P |

There is no way to hide your presence on the web BUT you can limit access to your web server within the Abyss Web Server control panel but as for other types of attacks such as DDOSing I have no idea. |

Well hiding your self from the web defeats the purpose of owning a server....... _________________ Where have i been? School got heck-tick, had to move half way around the state, then back... and then i had to change jobs, so iv been away for a while :P |

You could also help prevent hacking attempts by securing and strengthening your scripts and other web-enabled software/daemons you use on your server. Patching up to the latest updates is usually not enough. You should gradually educate yourself on how to combat over 90%, if not all, of the hacking activities attempted against your server.
Abyss provides an Anti-Hacking Protection feature from the Server Configuration dialog but this would be useless if you subject yourself to other types of attacks like SQL-injections and SSI faults. Educating yourself and applying what you know are always the keys to successful prevention against hacking. _________________

Insecure scripts is the main way people hack your server. If you only use HTML pages, you're probably never going to be hacked, but if you use PHP or some other scripting language with a badly written script, you're at risk. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

How exactly is your server beeing "hacked"? Is your web site beeing defaced or are there just some kiddies who send you lots of data to bring the server down?
If it's the first case, you should secure your scripts and check your server logs. Also check your firewall rules, make sure no unnecessary ports are open to the internet. I only keep port 80 (HTTP) and 22 (SSH) open to the internet.

In the past, malformed URL requests can bring shell-access to the hacker. Advanced web servers like the current releases of Abyss, Apache and IIS now address these types of attacks. _________________

just as long as you use scripts from reputable makers and a server that is up to date (like AWS 2.4) then you will be fine
PS If you make scripts yourself make sure you add things to prevent hacking _________________ Where have i been? School got heck-tick, had to move half way around the state, then back... and then i had to change jobs, so iv been away for a while :P |
