|
I've registerd my domain name with my isp.
And there i've put a page that redirects the visitor to my server.
When the page of the actual site loads the domain name is gone and my ip nr is shown in the adress bar in IE. How can i change this so that they don't see my ip adres but the name of the site.
for example:
my site: www.my-site.com
the user see this: http://123.123.123.123/
I want the user not to see the ip adres but something else.
many thanks |

Welcome to the forum :-)
You need to go into your Domain Name's control panel and change it so it doesnt use a "redirect". You need to set up an "A record" in the DNS hosts section that points to your IP address. (or a CNAME linked to your no-ip/dyndns address if its a dynamic IP).
Once you have that done, save the changed. It may take up to 72 hours to take effect so if it doesnt work straight away, don't make any changes for 72 hours because this will slow things down even more. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)
