I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think Abyss supports the Frontpage extension.

IIS is another webserver, the one that comes with WinXP Professional. IIS on WinXP is, however, limited to only 10 users at a single time unless you want to buy an expensive server O/S from Microsoft.

You should learn a real and open language instead of using Frontpage.

(What the hell does the 'Frontpage extension' do anyway? Never figured it out.)

Frontpage extensions is not supported by Abyss. This will continue to be so as long as Microsoft keeps their code a secret. They only wish to put it in IIS as it is their own software.

Frontpage extensions are basically precoded applications that will run with the Frontpage extensions. Its like PHP but its Microsofts own version. They are precoded for those people who simply want their site to function instead of messing around like we do.

Well I use Microsoft FrontPage, and also Abyss in order to serve my web site.

When it comes to using FrontPage you designed your web site and save, it in the Abyss WebServer software. It is very easy to update your web site quickly and easily without making any changes to the Abyss WebServer software. It is only necessary to configure the Abyss WebServer software one time. Anytime you wish to update your web site, you can easily do that using FrontPage. All you need to do is just save will instantly update your web site.

I have a more than 1 web site. And both was created using FrontPage, and Abyss WebServer.
I am using Abyss WebServer X2.

When you use FrontPage it is necessary for you to save your web site in a folder. Save that folder in side Abyss WebServer software should be located on your hard drive, path, C:\programs files\Abyss Web Server\htdocs\your web site folder name. Now all your necessary information that is generated by FrontPage is located in the same folder. This way it is easy to update each page as you make changes, using FrontPage directly from your, Abyss Web Server\htdocs\your web site folder.

You can use a home network, to update your web site, you can copy the complete file into Abyss WebServer.

So there is really no need for IIS by Microsoft.
8)

Yes but frontpage extensions is what isnt supported by Abyss, but is supported by IIS. You can happily use frontpage to make your site, as long as you don't use the frontpage extension snippets.

All frontpage extensions can be replicated in your favourite web based language anyway. PHP, ASP, Perl, Python etc. Frontpage extensions are simply pre-built snippets to do what you can code yourself, with the downside that they only run on frontpage extension enabled servers.

Other webmasters prefer publishing their websites with the use of Content Management Systems (CMS). Most popular CMS's out there run on PHP. CMS's pretty much take care of HTML/DHTML-compliance for you and you just have to contend with content, modules management and of course website organization. Lots of CMS's are advanced enough to oftentimes surpass Frontpage extension capabilities. Some CMS's don't even need any database servers or have text-based alternatives for this purpose such as TextSQL (flat-file database system).

Check out http://www.opensourcecms.com/ so that you can test drive some of these CMS's. My personal favorite is Drupal. And I have tried or tested Joomla, bitWeaver, Geeklog, e107 and some others whose names I already forgot.

Update: I failed to mention that they are FREE too.
