this isn't a huge problem, but it does make me curious:

I start downloading a 400mb file from the webserver computer to another computer in my lan. The speed starts out at 1000kb/sec which makes sense to me (since it is a LAN), but it slowly goes down and stays at about 300kb/sec. My network is under no use other than this transfer of this 400mb file, so:

Why can't it stay at a really high speed? Such as at least 500kb/sec
I've had transfers of 700kb/sec with a ftp server running in my network, so I know high speeds are possible.

Other info:
I have a netgear router
I am downloading through wireless (but it is not limited because of that)
dunno what else.

Did you limit the bandwidth in Abyss? That could stop it.

10Mbps LANs are only capable of roughly 1.25MB/s, about 12MB/s for 100Mbps LAN.
