ok... I searched and I searched for a solution to my problem but for some reason after clicking "show console" I'm prompted with a username/password screen ... I know the name/password but when I enter it, I get an error screen..
I have never even seen the console...
what should I do ?
ps... in the page whereyou first set up a username and password for the console, I tried clicking on the question mark next to the text box only to find that my browser cannot find that page either... I'm so frustrated  |

Reset your login/password (see the FAQ at http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/faq.html ) and reopen the console. You will be asked to enter a username and a password. Please enter them and remember that upper case are different from lower case and that spaces have meaning. Press OK and everything should run fine. _________________ Support Team

ok... I tried to re enter my login and passord as the tutorial showed me... however as soon as I push enter I get a message saying file not found and the address in the browser reads: "http://127.0.0.1:9999/save" I've looked in my abyss webserver directory and I have yet to find the file or folder marked "save"
I've even tried re-installing and re downloading, however there is no change.
thx for your efforts in helping me |

/save is a virtual file and it is normal that you can't find it. The problem is that you seem to have either a broken installation or a buggy browser. What is the browser you use ? Are you sure that the CHL folder is in the Abyss Web Server directory ? _________________ Support Team

The Browser I'm currently using is IE 6.0 and I have seen the CHL folder in the abyss webserver directory. Do you think I may be missing a specific file? |

IE 6.0 works with no problems. Try flushing your browser cache. In the Internet options, in the General panel, select Settings... in Temporary Internet Files and configure the browser to check for newer versions of stored pages at every visit to the page or Automatically. _________________ Support Team

Still no change after flushing my cache. Also, for some reason, after setting my login and password, the browser no longer asks me to log in .. even after clearing temp internet files and restarting the server... this is so confusing... :? |

Try downloading Opera from http://www.opera.com (small download) and using it as a browser. The issue you have is too specific and it seems that the problem is due to a problem in your IE installation. _________________ Support Team

OK, let's go back to basic questions ? What is the URL you are requesting to view the console ? Normally it is displayed in the main window of Abyss Web Server and is called Local Console URL. It looks like http://127.0.0.1:9999/ .
If you have a proxy configured in your web server, disable it for that address. That means disable it for 127.0.0.1 .
If you have a protection software or something like an antihacking application, disable it temporarily and check if the console is accessible.
We can't really know what software is available on your computer which prevents your web browser to connect to the web server.
If it is still not working, please tell us more about your machine. Without more detailsn we can't help you too much. _________________ Support Team

I'm running Windows ME on a 633 mhz Pentium Celeron e-Machine with 64mb of RAM (hangs head in shame) ... I'm on a cable connection through Adelphia ... I do not have a proxy server, do not have a firewall, and Norton Anti-virus has been disabled. I have no applications that run or start up when the computer boots. I have tried with no applications running in the background while abyss web server is active. I run IE 6.0 and I've tried configuring the web settings back to the defaults and trouble shooting the browser from there with no success.
A series of steps:
I try to access the console for the first time and I'm prompted to set up a login and password.
I complete the login and password form and press enter.
web browser points to http//127.0.0.1:9999/save and it then gives me a DNS error, stating the site could not be found.
I then try to access the console again ... and again I am prompted with the same error message.
I exit the abyss web server program and start it back up again.
I try to enter the console and I'm prompted with the username/password screen.
I type in my user name and password in the dialogue box and again I am prompted with the same error message.
I try accessing the console again and immediatly I'm prompted with the error message .. completely skipping the login screen.
this happens continuesly until I restart the server. after restarting the server. I'll try to access the console again and I'm prompted with the login screen. (the login screen only shows up once after restarting the server) and back to square one

Your computer have problems with its DNS resolution (this is not a problem caused by Abyss Web Server.) It cannot understand that 127.0.0.1 points to the local computer (which is really strange as this is the basis of TCP/IP protocol.)
Anyway, try using http://localhost:9999/ . localhost is often a synonym of 127.0.0.1 .
If your computer has a name (if you gave him a name in the Control Panel > System > Network Identification > Properties), let's say you named it "star64", you can use http://star64:9999/ to access the console from your computer.
If you still have problems, let us know. _________________ Support Team
