Lots of buisnesses name their software to "cool" numbers and/or letters and X is quite a "cool" letter, nice to view, some people say, the 1 is probably for the "version 1". When there is a * final * version poeple take a special name, not like v3.2 but like... X1

X1 was chosen mainly because it sounds fine. Doesn't it ? :D
