There is nothing to change in the server. You can use the IP address of the server (192.*.*.* or whatever) from your machine or from any machine on your LAN.
127.0.0.1 is just a special IP which is defined on all computers and which means "the computer I work on".

Why changing your IP, just know it using http://www.myipaddress.com and use it.

Well, That is a problem.

I see many ppl having the same problem that I do.

And if many users have a problem, than it's many not the users fault.

1) My web server can not be seen from anywhere else than my house. How come ?

2) I do think this is due to the fact that my console url is 127.0.0.1, but somehow, that means that Abyss does not find the current IP I have, cause the link you have given us (www.myipaddress.com) clearly shows my correct IP (Which is 216.***)

Please, please, please... We are really doing our best to answer the famous question "why the outside world cannot see my server" each time it is asked. But please understand that the web server uses the IP addresses available on your computer locally and that these may be not the "real" ones espacially if you are behind a router.
TCP/IP is a networking protocol and it is very complex. You can have multiple IPs for the same computer and have IPs that are usable locally and others that are usable remotely. Software cannot detect that easily so that's why we recommend getting your "real" IP address by checking http://www.aprelium.com/ip . This is not so hard we guess. And by the way, people that are used to web servers will say to you that NO web server on the world will give you your "real" IP. It is up to you to know it.

I think I 'll blush forever...

aprelium, I just got whats the problem, I think.

Windows XP inclues a firewall. When you set an Internet Connection, it automatically installs a firewall, blocking everything to go in your computer.

Just go in the properties of your Internet Connection, Advanced tab, and desactivate firewall.

Everything works for me now...

Sorry to have troubled you. Everything is set up from me now.

the same thing happens to me

the outside world can't access my web server.

Abyss Web Server X1 (v 1.1)
Copyright © Aprelium Technologies - 2001-2002

Configuration file: C:\Program Files\Abyss Web Server\abyss.conf

Server Port: 80 - Console Port: 9999
Web server local URL: http://127.0.0.1/
Console local URL: http://127.0.0.1:9999/

Server Port: 80 - Console Port: 9999
Web server local URL: http://127.0.0.1/
Console local URL: http://127.0.0.1:9999/

Server Port: 80 - Console Port: 9999
Web server local URL: http://127.0.0.1/
Console local URL: http://127.0.0.1:9999/

it defaults to the local loopback address.
it says its running but no outside computers can access my server.

there's no way to change the address of it?
it's definitely not autodetecting

Please read our FAQ at http://www.aprelium.coim/abyssws/faq.html about possible solutions to that problem.
You can also know what is your real IP using http://www.aprelium.com/ip .
