PHP 5 Beta 4 works fine. You must configure the php-cgi.exe as the CGI interpreter (and not php.exe). Check also your php.ini.

What's so special about the new PHP anyway , is their any new
features that it comes with , I think 4.3.1 version is the best in
my opionion , I will test out that version if you want !

Unless there ia real reason to upgrade, don't touch the beta release. Sometimes, you don't even need to upgrade to final releases. If there is no benefit, then just getting it for the shiny new version number is useless.

I tried to switch to version 5 because I am learning php and the lessons I am doing are from Sam's Teach yourself PHP Third edition which is for php 5 ... the book mentions some changes between 4 and 5 so I figured I should have the latest to learn with.

I guess that is a good enough reason to upgrade, but that must mean that this tutorial is fairly new; correct?

To solve Error 200 that happens with some scripts, you'll have to try setting register_globals to on in the php.ini (just as people do with php 4).
PHP 5 seems to be compatible with PHP 4.
