If Abyss is returning error 200 externally, at least your port isn't blocked :) What happens if you put a plain index.html in htdocs and test it with that ?

IM SORRY BUT WINDOWS XP HOME EDITION DOES NOT SUPPORT THIS (WAN) YOURE TRYING TO SET UP.

if you want to host a wide area network, youll need to upgrade to the WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL series or change the operating system. There is no way around this...no matter what application you use.

Im using the home edition, and yes it sux but local area network setups can be fun....sort of.

Maybe you should learn to read, because whatever you think you've read on MSDN, you haven't read properly. XP Home doesn't include IIS. That's all. Please provide a link to the MSDN document you've found stating that a different webserver can't run on Windows XP Home.

So... You found a document saying that you can't run servers on XP Home, and came here to tell everyone, but we have to take your word for it because you won't tell us where the document is. :roll:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=304197 ?

We also have to forget the fact that some of us are happily running servers on XP Home, and the fact that googling for XP Home + Apache or any other server brings up plenty of people who are happily running servers on XP Home. Well, I'm convinced. 8O

Don't forget you can't run MS Office on anything apart from Windows 2000 Pro Office Edition! :lol: :lol: :lol:

sigh.....

LAN's = yes
WAN's = no

and no i still will not direct you to these areas because it seems many people do not wish to excersice a thourough reading of instructions, specifications, and/or info sites. read the questions they are posting....
time can be saved when specs are read beforehand. idiot... :)

Sod it, I'll just wait for someone else to wake up and tell you what an asshat you are. LAN/WAN, you can run a webserver over either on any recent Windows OS.

Windows specific issues

1. Can I run Abyss Web Server as a service on Windows NT/2000/XP?

Abyss Web Server is a personal web server designed to run in user sessions and not as a service.
Services are applications that are launched automatically when the computer starts and that run without being controlled by a user. Services are available only on professional Windows operating systems.
Running as a service will be supported in a future release.

this can be found in the abyss help section...
