Hi all,

All of a sudden, I can no longer configure Abyss to use port 80 to serve its pages.. I've been looking high and low for the program that could be using this port, but I cannot find it. Anyone have any tips on how to find the port-blocker?

I think my 2nd question is unrelated, though the problem did appear at the same time. I can no longer log in to the console through Opera. Login & password requester appears, I fill in the correct data, but then: nothing. Only a re-appearing requester. In IE, no problems at all.

Thanks in advance!

Abyss may have come up hidden , 1 step to do to fix this.

1. Hold CTRL + ALT + DELETE and click on Processes
and end the process of abyssws.exe , if your using 1.2
end both processes of abyssws.exe and start abyss again

If that does not work , your ISP might
be blocking port 80 , later! 8)

Thanks, but this doesn't help. I noticed the double processes, and it seems I cannot prevent this from happening (launching Abyss always means double process, and stopping one of the services indeed stops them both).

My ISP wouldn't have anything to do with this, as I'm using it only for local purposes (ie even when not connected to the internet, the problem persists).

Edit: now that I come to think of it - it couldn't have anything to do with the trial period being over and the keycode requester coming up?

There is no trial period - Abyss is free :D The remember to register thing is just to show your appreciation and let Aprelium know you're using it regularly.

What OS are you running ? There's a number of handy programs for Windows NT / 2K / XP that show exactly what processes are using what ports, the best being ActivePorts.

Thanks! 8)

Apparently, it's Skype (a VoIP program) that's running and blocking the port. Problem solved :)

Thanks again.

Although I think this is an Opera problem.

Could be, i have that problem with IE.

Sometimes, when i screw with my settings it resets the ports to default and what not, then my IE takes port 80 and screws up my abyss, etc.

I downloaded a program that allows you to change the port o nthe program (After scanning the ports) but i can't seem to find it now, plus i don't know what its called.

I tried going into IE's settings and can't seem to find the port in there either...so i just give up.
