put all of your files in your htdocs folder.
and you have to set your index.php as an index file or whatever |

Are you sure you haven't double extensioned the files ? The more recent Windows OS's helpfully hide the actual file extension, so just adding .php will create index.html.php |

THANKS MAN! I owe you Big!
I was used to saving it as .php from notpad in 98 and it all worked out.. Seems like in xp pro, is saves it as index.php.txt (double extension) guess ill be saving all php files in notepad under -(all files)- now.
Thanks Anonymoose~ |

if that ever happens again , go to your htdocs where the file is with the double extension and click at the top where it has Tools -> Folder Options and click the View tab and uncheck , hide extensions for known file types and it will show you the double extensions , this happened to me when I bought my new HP Pavilion 8) |

If you're saving in Notepad as anything but txt, put quotes around the filename in the save dialogue, e.g. "index.php" and it will save it save as that name without adding .txt :D
The tip TRUSTpunk gave is the first thing I do after reinstalling Windows, I'm just used to being able to just rename the files properly I guess. It also stops you falling for any of those britneyspearsnaked.jpg.exe type trojans since you'll see straight away it's an exe before you absentmindedly click on it 8)
Glad to be able to help :) |
