I have an asp.net 4-0 site that is physically located at ...\htdocs\website01\*.* on my dev machine.

Currently, page test.aspx can be accessed as http://www.abyss.loc/website01/test.aspx where www.abyss.loc points to the server htdocs root. For testing purposes, I would like to use a shortened url (eg. http://www.website01.loc/test.aspx) instead; in other words, morph http://www.abyss.loc/website01/ into http://www.website01.loc/.

In the ASP configuration section of the Abyss web server console, I tried mapping the virtual path directly to the website01 subdir path to no avail. (In the hosts file, www.website01.loc points to the Abyss server root.)

It appears that subdir mapping is possible on the advanced Abyss X2 version. Is a similar feature also available for the X1 v 2.7 trial release? If so, what console settings should be modified? Would this require tampering with aliases, url routing, cgi scripting?

Thanks for sharing some ideas. Any examples would be appreciated.
