I am using an iMac and have opened up all the ports below 1024 as the inst said. I can see the websites on that iMac only.

I can access the html page using the browser on another computer on my LAN, however it comes up with an Apache page that has info on it and in bold letters it says
"Seeing this instead of the website you expected?" I also get this message when accessing each website from a browser inside my LAN. FYI I also get that page using Proxify.com

I can ping the host computer and get valid responses. I have tried port forwarding and using 80, 8000, & 8080 and also setting it up in the DMZ and also tried using the Virtual Server on my router. Same thing always comes up inside the LAN and outside. It not visible. I did remove the pre-installed index file in the Applications/Abyss Web Server/htdocs folder and have in the htdocs folder my 2 website folders. Both have index.html and index.htm inside them. I have also set up the virtual servers inside Abyss but to no avail.

I am using a Motorola SB6120 cable modem and a D-Link DIR-655 router.

I have tried everything I can think of and am pulling my hair out trying to figure out what to try next. Please help.

The two sites are
www.defendusa.org and www.preciseflow.com

cat3rn,

On your network, there is no need to configure the router or fiddle with anything else. It should work with the LAN IP of the server computer.

Determine the LAN IP of the computer containing the server (using the control panel tools or by running Terminal and typing ifconfig and then pressing the enter key).

Usually the LAN IP should look like 192.168.X.Y.

If the port used by Abyss Web Server is 8080, the URL is http://192.168.X.Y:8080 .

I am confused as to why I should not configure my router when the Abyss documentation says to use port forwarding. I know the LAN IP and have tried to go to it several times, however, I always get the "Apache" page instead of my webpages. I can see the websites on the iMac just fine using the actual website address www.preciseflow........ but I cannot see it using any other computers on LAN nor can I see them from outside my LAN using a proxy. All I get is that stupid "Apache" page. I can use the loopback and the IP address or the actual site name written out on the iMac and get the webpages just fine. I am not sure why no one else including myself can see the websites from the "outside".

cat3rn,

When you connect to a computer A to another computer B on the same LAN, no router is involved. So you don't need to configure it if you're only trying to access your site from within the same LAN.

Things are different for external users who need to contact your router to access computers behind it.

Please review the steps in http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/articles/x2-hosts.html .

To test access to your Web site, please follow the guidelines in http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/articles/access-test.html .

Note that if your sites have names, you can't access them on the LAN unless you declare these names and associate them with the LAN IP (192.168.X.Y) in their HOSTS file as explained in http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/articles/access-test.html .

In other words, if your server LAN IP is 192.168.1.100 and the domain name is www.defendusa.org, then you should add to each of your computers on the same LAN the following line:

Code:
192.168.1.100    www.defendusa.org

Please note that the IP address associated with your domain names does not seem to be responsive (IP 75.141.225.250). Are you sure incoming access to your router is allowed?
