I'm looking for a PHP package for mac, preferably version 5.2.6+ with cURL support. I know nothing about compiling binaries :/

I don't understand why aprelium haven't posted a new PHP package for over 13 months.

I'm not a mac user, but did you take a look at your php.ini file?
Look for this line:
;extension=php_curl.dll
If you can't find it, then the option isn't available.

It must be difficult for Aprelium to release a preconfigured PHP version for Mac or it would have been done more recently.

They don't need to. I use php.net's packages for windows and they work just fine with abyss. I'm not far behind updating php when php.net releases a new version of their package for windows.

I've used aprelium's package of php one time and that was during my testing phase of abyss before I subscribed for the X2 release. When I installed Abyss X2 I used php.net's latest release and I've been using php.net's releases ever since.

I'm not sure why aprelium even bothers with producing their own release of php and my only guess is to simplify the installation of php for those new to abyss. Oh yeah, it may also be that they have a modified php.ini file for improved security for those who don't know much about php.

Here is a link I got from php.net that may have what your looking for. http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/php/

Here are a few links that might point you in the right direction:

http://php5.darwinports.com/ - maybe proprietary???

That's not a problem on our side but it's rather caused by the difficult and cumbersome build process of PHP. Building PHP on Mac OS X requires time, a lot of manual tweaking, and we always end up patching several critical files because obviously NO ONE on the PHP team seems to ever test a Mac OS X build before releasing it.

OS X doesn't use .dll files and the OS X build 5.2.2 from Aprelium doesn't have curl compiled (or mcrypt). So, if you're planning on using OS X/Abyss/ecommerce with php, you can forget it.

I'm still trying to build a new version of PHP5 for Abyss, but I haven't been very successful so far (building for Apache was much easier). Are there any other distros that may work with Abyss/OS X? Entropy comes to mind. Any others?
