I'm not a "guru" so have mercy. It all comes hard. I have Abyss serving up pages just fine, and my install of PERL looks good.
Am I now ready to jam a script in there somewhere and see what happens?
I have some very simple VB scripts I wrote. Would these be good to test out what I have? (I've been a long tme getting here and don't want to screw up anything now)
Thanks in advance. |

THanks for the info, OS17. Eh, I don't have a clue if I VB script installed. Haha. The VB scripts I refferred to a some simple-minded things I'm doing as a result of starting a study of VB. Believe me, you don't want them. Hahaha. (Variations on Hello World)
I take it MS VB script is something that will allow me to use VB script? Could you tell me more, how to tell if I have it, and where to get it if I don't?
Thanks in advance. |

If you can run your VB scripts than you have VB script installed , you should have it installed if you don't you can visit the ActiveHTML web site and install it http://www.selisoft.com _________________ This web server is the best ! |

Guess I've read 4-5 tutorials tonight and I still can't get it right. I placed a simple script in my Abyss cgi-bin and changed the first line to c:\perl\bin\perl.exe. When that garnered no results I added the #! that windows is not supposed to need. No results there either. I have the SHMTL file type on the page.
Nowhere can I find anything about how to call this script in a web page??? I tried A HREF (The script is called hello.cgi). Is that right? |

If you want to run Perl scripts, the easiest way is to follow the instructions in http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/perl.html .
Please do not have a confusion between SHTML (SSI), Perl, ASP, and VB Scripts. Each of them refers to a different technology. _________________ Support Team
