I have a Sagem Fast 800-840 USB ADSL modem. At my provider I get a connection with a dynamic IP (that's what they say). But, don't know why, my IP is always the same. I want it to be dynamic. Is it with the modem?
If somebody has an idea, please let me know...

A dynamic IP address does not mean it changes constantly. If you are constantly connected to the internet your IP address is unlikely to change, because when the IP address expires your modem will probably ask the DHCP server if it can continue to use the same address.
If you really want to change your IP address leave the modem off until the IP address has expires.
Although I don't know why you want a dynamic IP address, as it doesn't offer an increased level of security. _________________ Olly |

Its strange that you would want a dynamic IP. I'd love to have a static IP (its expensive for me though). A low TTL keeps dynamic ip updates no big deal. _________________ -Blake | New Server :D

I reseted the modem, unpluged the cabels, turned off the PC, the IP remained the same. I've tried to use programs that change the IP, no use.
I need dynamic IP to download form rapidshare faster... |

Have you tried accessing your modem's configuration page? There might be options there for it. _________________ -Blake | New Server :D

I've contacted the provider's technical support. They said, that my IP is truly dynamic, but they have a system that always tries to give the IP adress which I use the most. And only if something is wrong at their server (all IPs busy or something like that), then it's possible that I get a new one...
Well in two months it never happened. So that's it. |
