I am using a new laptop that has Skype on it. I want to add Abyss but the port numbers would be the same. Is it possible to change the port number of Abyss at the installation stage? If so, what would the upshot be?
Thanks in advance _________________ Your only jealous 'cos the voices are in my head. |

Skype does not have to use port 80. If Abyss starts first, Skype will automatically choose a different port, otherwise you must force Skype to use another port.
If you want Skype to use port 80 and Abyss another, just go into the Abyss console after installation and change it. If Skype is already running Abyss will choose 8080 as a second choice. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

^With that in mind, run Abyss first. Sometimes 8080 isn't accessed by default for some people. It's usually 100% safe to use 80 for the server, and the rest for other apps (messengers, FTP-SMTP servers, etc). _________________ Audit the secure configuration of your server headers! |

If you want to launch Skype before Abyss it is possible to disable Skype's need 80 and 443. Just go to Tools > Options > Advanced > Connection, and uncheck the option "use port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incoming connections" _________________ Olly |
