My room mate and I just set up our Windows 2000 server. We set up remote desktop connection and IIS. When I'm on a computer on the internal server, I can access my website, however at my gf's place, i cannot

I've tried changing the port, I am with Time Warner in NC

v1.51.2 is the firmware and the router is a WRT300N V1.1

I've tried to open port 3389 to get to Remote Desktop to work on it with an outside computer but it didn't. So I assume I am messing up the router config some how. I tried DMZ too, but I don't know if it worked

Any suggestions would be great.

Could you post your URL so we can check it while we help you get it working?

Also, check this:

1. Did you allow the ports in your firewall? If you're not sure, turn it off while we get it working, and we'll worry about this last.
2. Did you forward the ports in your router to the pc acting as the server on your LAN? www.portforward.com might help.
3. Does your ISP block any ports or incomming data requests? If you don't know, ask them. If they won't tell you, we'll have to experiment by changing the port to one that is non-standard (like 2354).

You might want to set a static LAN IP for the server PC as well to stop the port forwarding rule becoming invalid should the internal IP change. Details on how to do this are here: http://www.abyssunderground.co.uk/router-staticlanip.php

69.134.148.31 is the ip address to ping in

I've tried Port Fowarding on my router

I don't believe TimeWarner blocks ports, I've tried a few weird ones and it still didn't work.

Code:
Pinging 69.134.148.31 with 32 bytes of data:

Request timed out.

Does your router have a firewall? If so disable that. Sometimes a router won't ping if you have it switched on.

Also, check your IP is the same as above on www.abyssunderground.co.uk/ip. www.proxify.com will help you to check without our help if your site is working or not.

Keep trying what we said above and you should eventually figure it out. Remember to put :port_number at the end if you decide to use a port other than 80.

Firewall is disabled, the port is 80, and the ip addresses do match.

Try another port on Abyss. Don't forget to change the port forward rule.

Any except 80. Maybe 2389 as a random number.

This is on a Linksys Wireless N router, so I do wonder if there are some new settings or something else they added that I am missing.

Linksys is usually pretty good for hosting. Its often straight forward. Do you have msn? If so add me and I'll speak with you on there.

Are you sure your using the correct IP address, because recording to a reverse DNS lookup the IP 69.134.148.31 belongs to RoadRunner, not TimeWarner.
