Visit www.abyssunderground.co.uk and follow the phpBB tutorial on there. You might need to follow the php, MySQL and phpMyAdmin tutorials too if you're having problems. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

Usually its the phpmyadmin that is not configured right that gives the phpbb2 a blank page on the install.php. Read the tutorials from abyssunderground to guide you through. _________________ Site Administrator of Nucca The Warrior's Website

phpMyAdmin has nothing to do with phpBB. phpMyAdmin simply creates the database. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

actually your right, it isnt the phpmyadmin, it might be the files that are not configured right in the phpbb folder to install it. Or the server isnt running at all.....lol maybe that can cause a white page or just a 404 not found _________________ Site Administrator of Nucca The Warrior's Website

A white page would be caused by either a bad script, a bad php installation or a server crash. _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

Well, speaking of phpBB...lol, I understand others have had no problem with installing it on a windows platform. I can install it just fine myself. Problem comes when someone wants to register. I installed on a Linux platform exactly the same way, and it registers people just fine. Windows won't for some reason. Underground I believe was the one who said he has had no problems at all with it, that it's not windows. I’m not going to dispute that, but still, here I am. I think it revolves around the mailer system. Is there anything special I need to add to the server so it can send out e-mails? I have no e-mailer programs installed. Linux didn't require it, maybe windows does? This isn’t a rush because I had given up on it over a year ago. Just thought I’d put my little feelers out there and see if there was any new info that may be of use. |

Linux probably has some sort of mail server already installed where as windows doesn't. I used to use hMailServer set up as an SMTP Relayer via my ISP's mail server (since thats the only way to make it work on broadband). _________________ Andy (AbyssUnderground) (previously The Inquisitor)

thinking we got a bit off topic here, his question is why isnt it working lol. Anyway, make sure you installed php right
http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/php.html then once its working use abyssunderground's installation tutorial to install phpbb2 (i believe phpbb3 was released, so you might want to look for tutorials installing phpbb3) http://www.abyssunderground.co.uk/installing-phpbb.php
Make sure you have phpmyadmin installed as you will need it to create databases for phpbb (easily that is, you dont NEED phpmyadmin, but its the easiest system to use in this case)

Or you can use SQL Yog and SQL Lite are, as well, database handlers. Very easy to use _________________ Site Administrator of Nucca The Warrior's Website
