My server (http://72.173.97.64/) is having some problems. Some people get error 500, others see it just fine. I'm not sure what's going on with it.

Your ISP could be blocking port 80, because even I can't access your server. Error 500 is an error from the Web Server. Check your cgi.log file for details.

I guess it hasn't cleared up. Some people can access it, some people can't. I don't think my ISP would on-and-off block.

As an example, try http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?uri=http://72.173.97.64/ . The W3 CSS page seems to load it just fine.

Also, my cgi log is completely empty... Did I need to install asp?

Edit: Here's my [edited] access.log file:

You don't need to install ASP, and I don't see any 500 Errors in your access.log file. I believe your ports aren't properly forwarded. Have you setup a Static LAN IP? Maybe your server's network IP changed. I will be more than happy to help you solve this problem. My Windows/MSN Messenger: msn@trustabyss.com

The server that it all connects to is set up to have a static IP of 1.1.1.2 by my router's DHCP. It does not change. I have Ports 80 and 9367 forwarded the same way, and only 9367 works 100% of the time.

Here's what the Firewall Rules displays:
Quote:

Allow Virtual Server HTTP WAN,* LAN,1.1.1.2 TCP,80
Allow RLS WAN,* LAN,1.1.1.2 TCP,9367
Allow RCB WAN,* LAN,1.1.1.10 TCP,48151
Allow Allow to Ping WAN port WAN,* WAN ICMP,8
Allow Virtual Server HTTPS WAN,* LAN,1.1.1.2 TCP,443
Deny Default *,* LAN,* *,*
Allow Default LAN,* *,* *,*

I get:

"Page cannot be displaied" (IE 6)
"There is a problem with this page" (FF 2)

Put this code in an HTML file named "index.html" and try it

Code:

<html>
<head>
<title>TEST</title>
</head>
<body>
<p>Hello world!</p>
</body>
</html>

Hello hc2995,

The problem is fixed. The server will sometimes report that it is offline. I believe the ISP has something to do with that since he has a limit on the upload usage.

On a whim, I changed my router to use port 81 as the external port instead of 80. It appears to work fine now for W3C validation pages, but still screws up for some people. http://ls.realityripple.com:81/

RealityRipple,

The validation sometimes fails because the Validation server cannot connect to your server. I guess your ISP drops your upload rate sometimes. I would contact your ISP if possible and ask them why your upload connection slows down to nothing. Even when you changed it to port 81, it still sometimes fails to connect. I had to try it about 1 to 3 times to make it connect.

It really confuses me as to why my data server on port 9367 works perfectly for everyone, but the HTTP server has issues. I'll call my ISP soon and ask them what's up with it. In the meantime, I've forwarded ports 9300 and 80 as well to see if it helps. I sort of have the feeling my ISP may be trying to block incoming HTTP requests.

Hello RealityRipple,

I have a theory. What if your ISP is trying to block all common ports? I recommmend changing Abyss Web Server to a port number higher than 9367. If a port number that high works for you, it should work perfectly fine with Abyss Web Server without any connection drops. Hope this information helps. Try port 9370.

Sincerely, Josh (TRUSTAbyss)
