I have installed php5 on my XP machine following the instructions at:
http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/php.html
and php seems to be running okay on localhost

Now I am trying to install Joomla as my CMS.
When I try to set up the MySQL database, it says:
"The password and username provided are incorrect"

Does Abyss determine the MySQL username and password?

I've tried using WAMP5, which is a rather more complicated web server, and (using the username "root" and a blank password) it worked fine.

I am running Abyss X1 2.4

Thanks

Michael

Abyss has nothing to do with MySQL. MySQL is accessed by PHP, which is being used by Abyss while running the script file.

When you installed MySQL, you specified a password for the root user. That's the password being asked for.

You might reinstall MySQL so you can set the password value.

That's a MySQL related problem. Run its installer again (or its instance configuration tool in Start > Programs > MySQL) to reset the root password.

Use then root and that password when setting any script that uses MySQL.
