|
|
Hello,
Been cruising along great with Abyss for years now. Thanks Aprelium!
I am using a backup program (2brightSparks). Today it bawked at me because the files I was trying to backup were to big. The major complaints from it are 2 log files.
cgi.log: 585,262 KB
access.log: 62,541 KB
Is this a windows or an abyss thing? And how can I reset or clear them? Also, are these logs something I should be checking on occasion? So far for me Abyss has been set it and forget it. I love it!
Running:
Abyss Personal X1 2.0
Xp Pro Sp2
PIII 128MB
(Server and Abyss soon to be upgraded!) |

Simply shutdown Abyss, remove the files and restart Abyss. |

Wonderful, thanks a bunch ;-)
What type of info is stored in these logs? They were too big for notepad to view them. Is it anything I need to be concerned with?
Thanks again! |

Just information about CGI (PHP errors etc) and every single access attempt on your web server. You may turn logging off (Abyss Web Server Console -> Hosts - Edit - Default Host On Port 80 -> Logging). |

I was wondering If I could schedule a script or bat file to rename my log files.
So, I need to Schedule a script so that it is executed once a month, or week
to rename the log file from access.log to YYYY-MM-DD.log
Is this easy to implement? Other than shutting down abyss manually? _________________ Todd (Gannyaa)

TRUSTAbyss--
How well would your log splitter integrate with awstats?
I currently use cron and some .bat files to update awstats at 10 am and 10 pm. Only one site gets lots of hits but it can make the awstats run for 5-10 minutes by the end of the week, when I usually delete my log files.
Two questions--does your log splitter still use access.log as the file name of the most recent log? If so, would it be smart to run log splitter right after the the awstats update occurs. (or maybe just after the 10 pm run)
Thanks in advance.
Regards,

AbyssWS Log Splitter, captures all months (including the year) from your access.log file. Once it has that information, it seperates it to new files in the format of "Month-Year-access.log". I don't know how well it would work with AWStats. It just opens the access.log from your log folder and starts the seperation from the PHP Command Line.
@Aprelium,
Thank you for your nice compliments on this new project. :-) |
