I'm running some CGI scripts (Python) that run correctly 90% (or so) of the time. The rest of the time I get Internal error 500's. I can't see any useful information in the logfiles. I've tried putting debug statements in my CGI scripts and it appears that when I get the error 500's my scripts don't run at all. Any ideas what may be causing my trouble? |

You get that error when Python cannot start for some reason or when your script runs but do not start by sending valid CGI headers.
If possible, post the script that results in error 500 so that we can check it. _________________ Support Team

Hi there. Thanks for the quick reply. I'm quite sure that there is no problem running python, and I'm also fairly sure that my script is not running at all. I'll review it again anyway. However, I have uncovered another possible contributor - due to a routing error, some non-HTTP traffic was getting intercepted and sent Abyss' way. Could that have gotten Abyss into a bad state? I notice that when I get the error 500's an Abyss restart generally solves the problem, if it doesn't heal itself after a few retries.
I've corrected the routing error and things seem better, although it is too early to say that I've fixed the problem. I'll let you know.
Thanks,

If possible, can you explain us exactly how all that happened? What do you mean by a routing error?
Thanks. _________________ Support Team

A gateway router is used to intercept traffic and direct it to the local webserver for authorization before allowing external internet access. It should have been set up to drop non-http traffic and route only http requests to the webserver, but it was redirecting all tcp traffic to the webserver. |
