I had alltel, it changed to windstream, and now port 80 seems blocked.

So i looked around and found this:
http://www.canyouseeme.org/

I checked port 8008. it said it was ok, so I setup my router to port forward port 8008. I then setup in abyss to use other port, port 8008.

anyway, i have 2 websites, sensored.com and sensored.com, neither works anymore.

I have my router forwarding to:
192.168.1.101.

I tried port 8080 also on the canyouseeme website and it said it was blocked.

I'm looking into "no-ip" services. I currently use zonedit and their dynamic update client. I hate to have their services if it costs money and then makes me have a different url in my url such as theforemansfamily.com.no-ip.net or whatever it would be.

any advice will be great, thanks. travis (ps, I have abyss x2 server and would still have my year of support.), thanks.

travisjforeman,

Are you sure that 192.168.1.101 is your internal IP ? In some cases when you reboot your machine, your server can change your IP according to the DHCP protocol.

I have 2 computers, one of them had the internal ip 168.1.1.100 (the one where the server software is. so i changed that. and i still can't get anything to show up on my site. sometimes it seems like it asks for a password.

travisjforeman,
can you please tell us more about your configuration?
From what I know, if you set your computer's IP to something static (or you maintain the IP from DHCP on the router) and then you set the web server to run on that machine on a port, you should be able to access it from the network first. If not, check your firewall is allowing Abyss to pass through and listen to that port.
Next, when you forward a port from your router, you have to be sure you forward TCP/UDP (TCP in our case, but I usually forward both) to the correct IP/port on your LAN. You can, for example, forward port 80 to port 8080 ;)
Next, even if you do set it up correctly, if port 80 is blocked by your ISP, regular HTTP access will fail unless the visitor says something like mysite.com:8080

If I were in your shoes, I'd first try to see if it works from within the network (if the web server is accessible and working properly), then I'd spend some time with the router configuration and try to see if it forwards correctly (try to telnet to it from a separate computer that is not in the network and that doesn't have that port -80- blocked, and see if it works).

Please post back if you have any updates.

I have it set to TCP. I use zoneedit's dynamic update client, I don't have a firewall turned on. I just tried it and it works with theforemansfamily.com:8008. but when they look at theforemansfamily.com which is where most all my visitors come because they type in the address, they get a password prompt.

if i don't use virtual paths, is there anything i could do to redirect from theforemansfamily.com to the foremansfamily.com:8008. I doubt it because if they could get the site that way, I wouldn't need a redirect.

I hope i answered your questions, and if you know how I at least could get rid of the password thing that would be something. lastly, does no-ip allow you to do something like having my own website name or do i have to use an extended name.

thanks. travis.

I'm not very sure what to say about the password you're required to enter. I've tried to connect and it would fail. I've tried to telnet and it looks like there is no application on port 80.
Port 8008 is working fine, though.
I'm not very sure how this dynamic DNS works, but my best guess is that you have a client application running on your PC that can get past firewalls/proxies on a specific port, but if you try to access the computer using their service, most (if not all) of the open ports on your computer should be reachable, as traffic is routed through their application firectly to your computer rather than through your your outside IP address.
Can you please try switching Abyss back to 80 and see if it works from outside your network?
I will think about this when I get back home, so if this doesn't simply work, I will read more about those services to understand how they work.

One short question: what application/process/something generates that password request?

I'm probably not going to change back to port 80. I might when i have time and look at it myself on another computer outside my network.

It's just internet explorer when i go to theforemansfamily.com without using port 8008.

i already emailed my link partners and asked them to change to theforemansfamily.com:8008. I doubt if many of them will change they'll probably think of my site as substandard.

anyway i had a few fun months with my website, and i can still send people i know links that point to the new port so they can see things on my site. it's just a small change in appearance but what a difference a small change makes to your image. i'm dissapointed i have to have the 8008 behind it, but it's better than a ip address or using no-ip behind it i think. and it didn't cost anything.

thanks. travis.

Considering it will take a week to get another ATtiny here Id rather make sure that its the problem.

Upon further testing it seems that reading is the problem. Its reading the device signature fine, but then it gets different results from reading the same flash. Ive tried changing the clock period and the results have remained the same.
