I always thought I had an account here but guess not. So, hello.

My main unit had kicked the bucket, more or less. It has been running my webserver since 2005, using Abyss since 2006. Much better than the confusing IIS.

What I have been trying to do is setting the server on a backup system of mine. Now, I can access the site internally but not externally, so that does show Abyss is set looking at the correct directory and with the proper port. The port, 1701, has always been forwarded in the router, so I just changed the internal IP from 192.168.120 to .102, old machine to current. Web sites that test ports see it open on my current IP:
http://www.whatsmyip.org/ports/
http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/

DYNDNS is working, hence the sites see my port. However, I can not ping to my current IP even with security off (and this unit only uses Windows Firewall and Avast, both disabled).

Abyss is set for the correct port and directory. All other settings I do not touch. Internally works, externally no. Not sure if it is something I am missing in Abyss (can not match settings, screen to screen, from other unit since PC not boot, but I do have access to its files with the drive connected via USB) or if for some reason, nothing outside can touch this particular computer, and this is my least protected unit. I never had problems on my monster unit (software wise that is).

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you and Jesus bless.

http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/articles/access-test.html

Did this last night. The proxy sites do not get access either. I tried the host bit, but no go. I tried 127.0.0.1 www.mypage.us and 127.0.0.1:1701 mypage.us. The first one took me to my router's main page. Second one failed.
I can access it with internal IP:PORT: 192.168.1.102:1701/main.html.

This would not apply since I am trying this with the firewall disabled. Later, I can add the port in once all works without security. This is basic into to me anyway so it would have been something I checked a few times a day to play around for this to work.

http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/articles/x1-server-access.html

Just basic info and links to the other two.

Everything is as it was on my main unit for Abyss, just without my heavy security as the main unit had. Just can not get in.

I will give the tech people a try and see if they know any other tricks.

Thanks. Will reply back with results.

Hi, all. The problem got fixed long ago but I forgot how, and it usually does take me days/weeks/months to get back to posting replies, as I balance so much and travel a lot. I ended up fixing it but it was not something I read in those mentioned boards, sorry to say. I forget if it was a local configuration gone bad (since it was on a different unit as the other blew up) or a fluke, but I do remember working on it for some hours before flying out, and when I returned, it was working again. Maybe it just did not want to see my ugly mug anymore.
I love this little program and am glad it worked.
Will be keeping those links in handy still, as the future is always uncertain in the world of computing.
Bless ya, palie, and thanks.
