just a passing interest, but why are some sites using index.php and others index.php?
is there any distinction, they seem to be equivalent... |

I assume you mean "index.php". versus "index.php?" They are the same: the question mark marks the start of the "get" parameters. Lots of Content Management Systems use a "get" parameter to select which page is served, defaulting to the home page if no parameter was passed. So either the CMS or even a URL rewriter may still leave the question mark when it is not really needed.
There is no extension ".php?". |
