You just need to save the abyss.conf file and the folder that your website is in.
(usually the htdocs folder by default)

Optionally, you might also want to keep your log folder if you want to keep them.
That's only if you bother reading thru them or use some kind of log analyzer. ;)

Also, if you're using PHP and MySQL, don't forget to save your php.ini file and backup your databases...if you have any.

Every week I stop the server, run awstats from command line, delete the old log files and copy the entire webserver directory to another location.

Then restart the server. I burn to disk the saved directory (and alot of other folders and files relating to webserver, email server, etc).

That way, if a complete meltdown should it occur, everything can be re-installed.

Maybe thats over-kill but it has saved me alot of times.

Regards,
Axis

If you care about the statistics you'll also want to copy the persist.data file. You can just copy the entire folder though if you want.

Minimal copy:

- Installer (if you're on X2, make sure to keep the product and registration keys)
- abyss.conf file from your /abyss/ directory.

When you reinstall Abyss after the OS reinstallation, simply stop the server, delete the abyss.conf file in the abyss directory, copy the original over and restart the server.

As other members have stated, make sure to back up persist.data, php.ini, your htdocs (or other root folder), and any databases that you're using if they cannot be replaced.
