Hello everyone, this is my first post. I am testing Abyss X2 on a Windows Vista box, so I just wanted to share a finding regarding the seemingly slow response times of php web pages served on this platform. Just a little background, I predominantly use Apache on Linux boxes, however, I needed to build a local application, so for ease of install, I'm using a Vista box I had laying around. I must say that I was just about to uninstall Abyss tonight and go back to the trusty Apache. The reason: The performance of served pages on Abyss were noticably slower than the same apps on Apache. This included random pauses when clicking on links (which sometimes required multiple clicks on the same link to get the page to load, or hitting the browsers refresh button a few times), as well as noticeably slow image loading of title bars, menus etc.
Here is the fix if you're experiencing this issue on your own windows box. Disable real-time monitoring of your Anti-Virus as well as Windows Defender real-time monitoring if you have it installed. I don't recommend this if you're using Abyss on your desktop computer that you use for email, web surfing, etc. But if you have a dedicated Windows box for Abyss, disabling real-time monitoring makes all the difference in the world. Now our Abyss served pages are every bit as fast and responsive as Apache on Linux.
Just thought I'd share. |
