I am trying to figure out if "*.mysite.com" also covers "mysite.com". I am trying to determine the inner workings of the "Allow Links from" field of the Anti-Leeching feature. I've read http://127.0.0.1:9999/doc/hosts-configuration.html#HOSTS-ANTILEECH-ALLOWED and http://127.0.0.1:9999/doc/patternsformat.html but I can't simply determine the answer to my small problem

Of course, I can always add both "*.mysite.com" and "mysite.com" but that's a sore score against efficiency.

Simply use *mysite.com (no dot after the *) :-) Should work a treat.

Thanks a lot, Andy. But I can imagine the side-effect to that - you may also be allowing exceptions from the following domains:

bagmysite.com
trickmysite.com
hackmysite.com
etcmysite.com
...and subdomains thereof.

The mitigating factor to this side effect is if your "mysite" is quite unique enough.

That's where the order of hosts can be helpful. Have your last entry be *mysite.com, and put subdomains and stuff first. And when that won't work, do the 2 entries.

Order of hosts? But the Allow Links from table of Anti-Leeching is not sort-based. How do you mean?

*mysite.com definitely works. And so do adding both *.mysite.com and mysite.com. The downside of the former approach may be inaccuracy and the downside of the latter approach may be inefficiency... especially when you are thinking about:
mysite1.com up to mysiteN.com where N is a very big positive integer.
