Moving on from my previous post...

I uninstalled the server, deleted the config.

Downloaded Abyss 2.5 and the php5 pre-installer from this forum.

I used the pre-installer as I was having issues with a 500 error message under php 5.2.2 but this pre-installer cured it.

However the previous problem that existed before of the root not showing up still exists and I cant work it out as the new virtual paths I have made work fine.

All the settings are freshly made, I didn't carry anything over from the previous version.

Can anyone think of a reason why this is happening?

Well I updated my AV software, scanned mt PC and I found 3 instances of a I-Worm in all 3 modules of Mozilla FireFox for U3 on my U3 flash drive.

Although the AV killed the virus, the issue still remains that I cannot view the index.php page at the server root but can in all other virtual paths, these virtual paths are stored on the flash drive.

I tried pointing a virtual root to a htdocs folder on the flash drive but got same result, a blank screen.

Any suggestions...

Still nothing.

What I can not fathom is why PHP fails to execute in the root but is fine in the virtual paths.

I have checked, rechecked and double checked my checking and IM all checked out.

All I can say is IM a bit 'checked' off with it.

Suggestions?

... and today when I tried invoking phpinfo(); function in a php page... it churned out details.

What is more amazing is that this was from the root of the server.

Very strange but I think that this is a residual issue from the worm virus as it did latch onto a bit of web kit (the web browser) and I do have it pointing to the root of my local web server.

I will monitor this and see what happens as it is still a bit flaky and still getting some errors that did not exist before.

Having scanned my PC several times now, theirs not a sign of any infection.

Well strange, PHP has now started to function normally again.

That was well strange.
