Hey - I'm looking to buy X2. It's all for php hosting however I don't have time and I don't want to deal with converting rules from .htaccess files into your format. I have 65 sites, some managed by the client so I need something to do it for me.

Why does the web server not just read .htaccess files? Isapi-rewrite can do it! ;-)
Is there a tool to do it ?
Can you post rules for the most popular php sites ? (joomla, drupal, zen etc)

or ... can I post the rules to tech support for conversion?

thanks!

A tool will be available in the future to convert the Rewrites. If you post the htaccess file, we may be able to help you convert it.

Great - I think it should be part of X2 or maybe X3? ;-) It is worth some $$. IIS7 and PHP still don't work so this product is key.

Thanks

craigw9292,

.htaccess URL rewriting directives will probably be supported in the future versions. Meanwhile you can always send us your .htaccess files and we'll help you convert them.

For Drupal, you might want to see this article. And please see also the comments at the bottom :-D.

thanks - looks easy enough.

Any thoughts on the comments about speed? That has been my driving factor in sticking with IIS7 but it's driving me nuts keeping php sites running but if X2 has performance issues I'd like to be aware.

thanks!

I've bench tested Abyss and Apache. Guess who performed better at loading a standard web page? Abyss Web Server. :-)

Yeah I did some research and I didn't see anything negative. I'm busy testing it now, trying to get some sites moved tonight. Having a problem with IP binding - trying to figure out if its an X1 thing or IIS. If I can get it working I'll upgrade to X2 ... maybe X1 always bind to *.

I got it all working - way easier than hacking IIS 7 - getting my X2 now :)
