I am trying to set up my first web site using abyss X1.
I also use DYNDNS to have a domain (for free) and a dynamic update between that domain and the (dynamically assigned) IP adress of my router (US robotics wireless maxG router).
Now, each time I try to get to the web page, i am getting the login screen of my router although i hav put port 80 to forward to the internal IP adress on which abyss is running (also abyss is configured to use port 80). What am I doing wrong?

Your router is interfering, can you change its' interface port?

barko,

Your router does not seem to support loopback. So please refer to http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/articles/access-test.html to know how to overcome this limitation and still be able to test your site locally.

Hello,
APRELIUM: the trick with the hosts file works fine... on the machine where abyss is running, and (using the internal IP adres of the abyss client) also on the other clients of my home network.
But, once I apply this, can I trust that my site is visible from outside?
(by the way, I have a long list of sites to block in that file from http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/...)

RRINC: what do you mean with the 'interface port' of the router? I cannot find somthing like that in the setup...

I was thinking maybe your router was using port 80 for its web interface, but Aprelium is probably correct that the problem is loopback. You can test your website using a proxy (such as proxify.com).

You can always do a remote test by browsing your site using a proxy or an anonymizer web site.
